What Marvelous Grace

I realize my last post might have been a little heavy. Because of this I think this post requires a change of pace. (We’ll see how we go anyway.) So in the words of some great preacher who has gone beforehand “Let us begin with a Bible verse”…

(John 1:10-13) He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God – children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.

This is one of several scriptures that inspired me to write a song called “What marvelous grace” back in 2009. (The title of the song itself came from reading a teaching by Charles Spurgeon) But I want to highlight this scripture here in particular because I think it says so much just by itself. (I can stand back and let the word itself do the preaching.) God’s word is so rich with unsurpassed wisdom and beauty as it reveals and makes known the plans and purposes of God to fallen Man…

I can quite easily imagine (when someone preaches the Gospel) people out there saying things like “Why don’t you keep that stuff to yourself. Don’t push it on us”. To that I would say “It’s up to you if you want to hear it or not. At the end of the day I can rest knowing that I have done my duty to the Gospel of Jesus Christ by doing what I do”…

It is my hearts cry to uphold the integrity of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Not mearly by saying what I say but by “Doing” what I do. If you don’t like it then don’t buy it. If you feel this way then I can say that you are not the first person to fail to “Recognize him” or have any real “Conviction” about the “Fallen” condition you are really in without the reality of being “Born of God”…

(So much for a “Change of pace” in this post. Maybe God wants to speak to some people out there somewhere…)

But the “Good news” for all who receive him and the “Word” of “Testimony” about him is that we become “Children of God” and we are called “Blessed” because of this great “Gift of grace” we have been given…

(John 1:16-17) From the fullness of his grace we have all received one blessing after another. For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.

We gain what the Holy Bible calls “Right standing with God” through faith…

(Rom 5:1-5) Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit whom he has given us.

This brings me to my last scripture in this post and the main thrust behind my "Living Within" demo CD back in 2004. It's great news to know that we have a helper. We have not been left on our own. (John 14:16) I hope that this last scripture brings much encouragement and confidence in the face of anything a believer may be going through. I hope you'll also notice the "Relationship" this scripture has with John 1:10-13 and just how exactly we "Believers" belong to him...

(Eph 1:13-14) And you also were included in Christ when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation. Having believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God's possession - to the praise of his glory.

I pray “In Jesus name” that Christians everywhere will “Wear their hearts on their sleeves” as they go about as “Ambassadors for Christ” without fear, because fear is not of God…
