Mansions In Heaven?

Since Jesus Christ is the “Head” of the Body of Christ, all those spiritually born of His Spirit make up the Body, Ephesians 2:20.  Jesus Christ is the Chief Cornerstone of the spiritual Temple being built and added to daily, in heaven, which consists of born-again believers. We are the “living stones,” 1 Peter 2:5, upon which the foundation is the twelve apostles.  And, according to the KJV translation, are we looking forward to “mansions” in heaven, as though you will have yours and I will have my own, and we may/may not live next door to one another?  There is much confusion about John 14:1-4.  As I see this controversy, and hear others ask questions about your mansion and my mansion, do you really think Jesus meant “mansion” as you and I know mansion?  I think He talked in parables and pictures; He was using the word for us, so we could feel secure.

2 Corinthians 5:1 reads, “For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.” This fact immediately demolishes all of our imaginations of heaven including “mansions.” A clearer translation would be “dwelling place.” Do not attempt any comparison between heaven, and our present existence. Marriage, family and possessions will not continue. The Bible says, “Behold, I make all things new.” When Jesus says He goes to prepare a place for us, we should read 1 Corinthians 2:9, “But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.”

I think just like we make up the church here on earth, we will make up the mansion in heaven.  We are his and He is ours,  He is our leader and we are His people.  We call on Him and He hears us, we are part of each other and He is part of us.  Just imagine... Living day in and day out with golden streets and in the presence of the LORD for eternity.  Just imagine...Mansions?

Hi, LadyDiane,

I enjoyed this blog. It's truth. We won't have multiple roomed mansions in heaven with locking doors and windows because we won't need them. God will not allow sin to enter into His Heaven, so no one will be looking to cause us harm, and they will not be trying to steal from us. Praise God! Can't wait for the day we hear the trumpeting sound of His voice calling us forth. My prayer is that God will gather in His harvest and send Jesus after us.

In Christ joyfully,

Rev. Suzanne

Yes, mansions! A mansion meant in the mind of hearers of Jesus a magnificent dwelling place for a major Roman ruler who hosted family members and benefactor friends living in one exquisite collective apartment complex, all dwellers therein eligible to gather for the daily feast and all other provisions of the host. All dwellers were comfortable with the "list" of friends and family, so that every minute was assumed to be safe and of utmost joy. All the mansions, those eternal dwelling places will be like that, not on a Roman elitist scale, but on a divine scale of prosperity in every way. Instead of an elite Roman soldier squad protecting the residents, the immediate and constant presence of God will preside.
Wonderful subject!
