REVIVAL--A FRESH BREATH
REVIVAL--A FRESH BREATH
21Then Jesus said to them again, Peace to you! [Just] as the Father has sent me forth, so I am sending you.
22And having said this, He breathed on them and said to them, Receive the Holy Spirit!
Jesus at this point fresh from the cross was to minister to the disciples in preparation of their coming ministry and at the point sent into them the most important ingredient of their APOSTLESHIP-THE POWER AND ANOINTING OF THE HOLY SPIRIT.
There are some important characteristics of a revival controlled by the Holy Spirit and that is environmental change. In verse 22 above he sent them forth in the Holy Spirit
After Jesus returned to the father; things begin to happen as the apostles began to go into public and the most evident thing was the change in their appearances, they had been with him and were now appearing like him (Jesus).
There is truth to this because people that continue in his presence have been known to walk in his presence.
Read Romans 12:1-2 continually for several moments and then tell me what being constantly in the presence of the Holy Spirit might bring to you? I want you to see if nothing else what being in the presence of the Lord might bring to you.
I am going to try to bring to you the doors in the Spiritual realm that might be open to you if you take time in the word and prayer. I would like you to begin to understand what the word is really bringing to you and not some washed out version that some men preach. Starting point look at John chapters 14-16 in every version you have and tell me what is being said about Jesus being brought to you by the instructor the Holy Spirit??
As my dad used to tell me about the times in conflict when there wasn’t quite enough to go around they went on short rations to survive. We’ve never have been on short rations in the Spiritual sense. In many cases we have been given short spiritual rations so that the uncompromised truth in the word could not reveal to the vessel bringing the word as compromised in his life by elements of unbelief.
You must learn that you will begin to resemble what you hear; didn’t Paul write to the Romans that faith comes by hearing, hearing the full unvarnished word and seeing what will eventually determine you as a believer.
In getting into revival mode it begins with two things prayer and the word of God and stays in this until you begin to be the word in all you do. Right now this study is just a point of beginning to start to grow.
You need to see who the inner circle was to the Lord. You need to see there is still a door open to that inner circle if will be willing to pay the price of standing next to Jesus. You need to know who the inner circle was and that they showed in every major ministry time the Lord had.
You need to know how to pray the word in every situation and to expect to receive. You need to know that the greatest experiences in Jesus are about to happen and what you must do to be part.
You need to know the churches of Acts were a pattern the revival now breaking across the globe is and what it means to have the anointing of the Lord on you so that you will be right in the middle of it. Finally you need to know where Luke 4:18 was quoted from by the Lord and does that apply to you.
ACTS1:8 --ACTS 2:4
But you shall receive power (ability, efficiency, and might) when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you shall be my witnesses in Jerusalem and all Judea and Samaria and to the ends (the very bounds) of the earth.
And they were all filled (diffused throughout their souls) with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other (different, foreign) languages (tongues), as the Spirit [
a]kept giving them clear and loud expression [in each tongue in appropriate words].
The Holy Spirit is welcomed as the promise of Luke 24:49 and John 2o:18 is now in the process of fulfillment.
Important points to remember here from Acts 1:8
The first step in the coming of the Holy Spirit is the process of being anointed completely saturated in the power of the Holy Spirit. The power of the Spirit is the coat that equips you with all you need or could hope to need to fulfill your calling by the Lord.
Because of that power upon them covered in the Holy Spirit they become witnesses-Proof to rest of the world they are sent to; of the abilities received in knowing Jesus. This proof if offered in a court case is the kind of unquestionable evidence for your case that goes beyond dispute
Acts 2; 4 Is the fulfillment of the promise and enduement of the gift of the Holy Spirit.
What was the purpose of sending the Holy Spirit? Jesus gave it to us in the book of John --another comforter that would be in them instead of walking with them.
The Holy Spirit would empower them to do the same things but only Greater than Jesus in his ministry. Jesus was limited by his humanity and to the area he would cover but not the body of believers that have grown from him.
We must see the depth of the word concerning us and realize that in his name that there is nothing given to him that we haven’t received through his name.
