279 TRYING TO ESCAPE THE SIN.

Genesis 3:8 And they heard the voice of the LORD
God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid
themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden.

Let’s face it,
God knows everything and sees everything. He knew that Adam and Eve had
disobeyed Him but He wanted them to love Him enough to come to Him and confess.
His first desire would have been for them to love Him and obey Him at the
beginning but He has and still is trying to meet mankind on a level that the
human race can achieve.

The first step in
any person’s life that God wants them to take is towards Him. He knows that the
human nature is to sin.

Romans 3:23For all have sinned, and
come short of the glory of God;

The main point
now is God has moved on and is making ways for man to be reconciled back to
Him. The reference to salvation or being saved is how God expresses coming back
to Him and establishing a right relationship with Him. This could not happen
without a visible expression of love.

John 3:16For God so loved the world,
that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not
perish, but have everlasting life.

This expression
of love was God’s son, Jesus, dying for our sins that is showing the world that
God loves us and that our travel towards a punishment that is for ever painful
can be stopped. He has done all He can to convince us to change our minds and
love Him; the rest is now up to us.

Deuteronomy 30:19 I call heaven and earth to
record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death,
blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may
live:

Where all have
sinned, our only hope is to confess our sins and trust in God’s mercy to save us
and change our attitudes.

1John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful
and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all
unrighteousness.

It would be
simple enough but God has an enemy that is very clever and is determined to
make us fail. Satan wants to be God and wants us to worship him. If he cannot
succeed at that, then he wants us to fail. He hates us because we are made in
God’s image; we have the ability to look just like God.

He works in our
thoughts and suggestions, trying to keep us away from God.

He will try to
convince us that God is mean or indifferent. This could not be farther from the
truth.

1John 4:16And we have known and
believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in
love dwelleth in God, and God in him.

Then he will try
to convince us that we are not all that bad; that we haven’t done any great sin
and that God will accept us into His kingdom. This also is wrong. God has made
the entrance into His kingdom so simple that even the fool can get in but WE
STILL HAVE TO MAKE THAT CHOICE and our actions will follow.

Many that see
their sins and know they’re guilty will try to convince themselves that they
are OK by comparing themselves to others around them and will find fault with
their neighbors. Unfortunately for them, we are going to be compared to God’s
word in the form of His son and not each other.

2Corinthians 10:12For
we dare not make ourselves of the number, or compare ourselves with some that
commend themselves: but they measuring themselves by themselves,

Finally, the
majority of people that can see their sin, try to hide them of ignore them.

They will keep
themselves so busy at living life or doing good deeds that they have no time to
face God and befriend Him.

John 5:40And ye will not come to me,
that ye might have life.

A great majority
of this group will run from God and try to hide from His judgment. This was the
choice of Adam and Eve. God knew they had sinned and disobeyed Him but He
called for them; hoping that they would come to Him and confess. They chose to
hide and try to run from their loving creator.

Today, people are
hiding in drugs, alcohol, sexual pleasures, work, life’s pleasures, wealth and
suicide; ignoring God’s judgment and hoping that it is not real. They are only
fooling themselves and will run until it is too late to change.

Their guilt is a
part of their life as much as their own thoughts are part of them. I don’t know
anyone that ignores their right arm even though it may work perfectly. It is
the same with their sin. It keeps controlling their lives until they admit it
and take it to God to get help or die. If their sin controls them until they
die, they have let it take them to hell and control them for eternity.

Hebrews 9:27And as it is appointed unto
men once to die, but after this the judgment:

Hebrews 9:28So Christ was once offered
to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the
second time without sin unto salvation.

Don’t run from
your sins. Prepare for eternity by coming to your loving heavenly father and
admitting them.
