Philanthropy in the Black Church

Members of historically Black churches who give generously to their congregation rank spiritual support for their everyday lives as the most important thing they want from their church. Surprisingly, social action and community service themes are less likely to motivate giving. Satisfaction with how the church manages money is also important. According to Calvin O. Pressley, the Black Church needs to improve its money management and stewardship skills at all levels.
