Christmas is Coming! Christmas is Coming!

The holidays are almost here! This time of year seems to revolve around the endless endeavor to create the perfect family get-togethers, the kind the kids will remember for a lifetime.

It also revolves around shopping… grocery shopping, the perfect gift shopping, obsessive shopping, which morphs into "hunting" the closer Christmas gets, decorating shopping, holiday clothes shopping and last minute shopping. I am already tired. It is also the time of year we commit ourselves to events and festivities that make us doubt our sanity. Whether you have kids or don’t, are married or dating, this time of year places a certain amount of strain to squeeze out every last drop of togetherness. Not just fun togetherness, but Holiday togetherness…which in many homes means endless kiddie functions, the preschool Christmas program, 350 hours of Nutcracker rehearsals and 6 performances, the Annual Family Christmas party, trimming the tree, the Christmas photo,uh,did I mention shopping?

Slow down…take a deep breath... exhale. God doesn’t care if the Christmas tree has a theme, or how perfect the house is, He gave us Martha Stewart so we can all feel unworthy. While I personally love all the craziness and the entertaining, as many of you do, I am guilty of letting it overwhelm the quiet times or all my time. When the balance of things gets out of whack it is time to take a step back. This season put on the garment of praise and become a walking testament to His peace that surpasses all understanding.

Here is my challenge to you: if Christ is truly the center of our celebration, let your endeavors, commitments, behavior, words, and gift giving reflect a truly Christian holiday. Take time for yourself, your family, but more importantly take time for Him.

In keeping in line with NewLifeWithin.com’s commitment to bringing you the very best in Christian books, music,& more, we have put together a wonderful selection of titles and resources. This diverse selection offers great "curl up by the fireplace" fiction, tissue-inducing stories, books to challenge and inspire,as well as music from today's top Christian artists. For a personal gift to you, or for friends and family, there is something for everyone. The message of God’s love, Christ's birth and ultimate sacrifice is a non-returnable gift. Use this season to crack open the door of opportunity and share your faith. Books have a way of saying what we often cannot find the words to express.

And from all of us at NewLifeWithin.com, Merry Christmas!
