Tell Them I Said, Back Off

My daughter and her friend went to the mall last night. They were sitting outside of Smoothie King talking when some teenage guys approached them to do a little "flirting". After they guys walked away, the girls sent text messages to the guys they are dating to get their reactions to the "flirters". The guy my daughter is dating sent back a text message that said, "Tell them I said to Back Off!". I thought that was so cute and sweet! This forty-something year old Mom, was touched by that instinct to protect and demonstration of care and concern. The book, Captivating by Stasi and JOhn Eldridge talks about why women of all ages gush at such gestures. God created us to love romance. He created women to long for a prince, a knight in shining armor. Women crave protection and we love to be treasured. God designed us that way! As I was thinking about my daughter's experiece last night, I was reminded of how often Satan sends his demons to "flirt" with us spiritually and emotionally. I am sure you have met his demons. There is a whole group of them lurking about---Worry, Fear, Anxiety, Can't Get Past the Past, Anger, Impatience, Depression, Feelings of Insecurity, Confusion, Discontent and many, many others. These demons flirt with us. Hover over us even though they are unwelcome. They get inside our heads and distract us from what is really important. When these things happen, we can and should look to God. Pray, which is our way of sending Him a message! The great news is that God's message back to us is essentially the same as my daughter's boyfriends was to her......"Tell them I said to back off!". God tells us that all through His many "Text Messages" right out of His Holy Word! He is always there to protect us and be our One and Only knight in shining armour. He has provided us with messages from His text that we can use to fight Satan and his demons. We can make them back off when we use God's Word and protection that is always available to us! I keep smiling as I right this. I am really working on my walk with God. I am trying hard to relinquish control and let God handle all of the things I am trying to fix myself. And in all honesty, I think the "them I said, back off" message will stick with me and I want to try and use it when all of those negative thoughts start creeping in......... I want to have the strength and closeness with God to say... Hey, you demons, my Saviour says to "back off"! Here are a few special "TEXT Messages" from God: Psalm 50:15 .....call on me in the day of trouble; I WILL deliver you and you will honor me. JOhn 5:17 Jesus said, "My Father is always at work to this very day and I, too, am working. Isaiah 26:3-4 You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in You. Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord, the Lord is the Rock Eternal. Hebrews 13:5 I will never fail you. I will never forsake you. 2Thes 3:3 The Lord is faithful and He WILL strengthen and protect you from the evil one. Jeremiah 32:27 Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh. Is there anything too hard for Me? Lord Jesus, give us the courage and strength to tell all of Satan's demons that You said to "back off". Let us remember Your many Text Messages and use them to protect ourselves and to gain a closer walk with You.
