It has been a long, hot and humid summer, but the temperature is now on its way down. I can feel some cool in the morning and night air now.  The monsoon season has made its exit and the humidity went with it.  The days are sunny and cheerful, and for the first time, I can walk outside without sweating.  I took advantage of this beautiful day and went running.  I carried my obsolete Walkman cassette player and listened to Christian praise and worship music along my jog.  I listen to Christian music in order to stay present in the Lord, because that is where I experience my ultimate joy.

As I ran, I was seeking the Lord in everything within my vision.  As I ran past towering trees with long, full  branches. I thought how these branches looked like arms reaching out in praise  to the Son/Sun that lights the world.    I thought about the wood that came from trees and reflected on the old wooden cross at Calvary.  I came across and old dead tree barren of any foliage, but the birds didn't seem to care.  They were singing and dancing among the dead branches, and this seemed to me rather profound.  The birds didn't care about the dead, crooked branches of the tree.  They didn't care that it was barren of leaves and that its outward beauty had shriveled away.  No.  They didn't care for they still had the day and the warmth of the sun.  They had  found the dead branches a perfect perch to see the beauty of the day.

I felt humbled and realized that in my own life, it doesn't matter whether I have a nice car, nice clothes, or nice shoes, for I still had breath in me to enjoy this sunny summer day.  It doesn't matter that my job has many undesirable aspects to it.  I still have my breath  and the ability to laugh, sing, and dance.  No matter my circumstance and no matter where I am at, things don't have to be perfect in order for me to live life to its fullest, love to the utmost degree and to just plain enjoy the moment I'm in. Those birds hadn't a care in the world. They were singing among dead branches of a lifeless tree, rejoicing in the day.

This has been a blessed day along the Lord's way.  My cup runneth over and I am so incredibly thankful for this divine gift.

This is the day that the Lord has made,
 I will rejoice for He has made me glad!

Psalm 32:11
Be glad in the LORD and rejoice, you righteous ones;
And shout for joy, all you who are upright in heart.
