Covering

Eph 5:25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;

My late husbands birthday is coming up. This is a memorial to him.

He use to tell me:"you don't miss your water til the well runs dry." He would always tell me this when he thought I was not giving him enough appreciation. Men live for appreciation, and praise from their loved ones.

What I miss most about him, is that he was what I called my "covering." some call it "having your back." In other words the little things he did. When he died, for the first time in my life I felt naked, exposed, and alone.

I knew that if I was ill he was there, fussing worrying like an old mother hen. If I forgot to pay a bill, he was there to remind me, or nag until I wrote the check. If the car broke down, all I had to do was call and he was there. He was always there to protect me from scams, scoundrels, and the cheats, and even sometimes from myself.
I always appreciated him and everything he did, although if he were alive he would tell you differently, because I didn't always show it openly. I did appreciate him.
I always felt complete safety when he was around. He allowed me security to find myself, without it threatening his manhood. One of my friends said she never saw anyone like him, he was supportive in everything I did.
I am doing well now and can write about this without the bitter tears, of loss, and thank God for having someone who loved me so unconditionally.
I don't think that I will ever feel that way about anyone else in my life, but how many people can ever say that they feel that way about even one person?

If more husbands would learn what mine knew. "Husbands love your wives, and your wife will willing be submissive to your leading"

I miss you Sweetheart.
Sue
