Bioethics & Timeless Truths For Changing Times

Authored by FMeekins1 on Sun, Oct 19 2014 - 06:07 AM

The rate of technological and cultural change is so fast and comprehensive in these days in which we live that futurist Alvin Toffler has likened the phenomena to waves sweeping over society and labeled the feeling of disoriented perplexity that settles over us in the wake as "Future Shock". Many of these changes appear to be so profound that the ...

St Jerome vrs the Gnostics

Authored by roundtable on Tue, Jul 17 2012 - 01:32 AM

St Jerome was right to consider the Gnostics to be heretics. However since he personally believed that The Gospel of Peter was a genuine gospel and not a "Gnostic Gospel" he should have taken steps to preserve that Gospel.Jerome is known for writing the Vulgate and for his decisions on the Canon at the council of Hippo 393 ...

Looking at Bishop Spong's "view" of the Bible

Authored by roundtable on Sun, Feb 12 2012 - 05:57 AM

Bishop John Shelby Spong's new book "Reclaiming the Bible for a Non Religious World" is exactly the kind of attack that we should expect in the present mode of secularism. Suggesting that the Bible is not reliable because it was not written by eye witnesses is a red herring since it is fairly certain that the gospel of Luke was recited by ...

ECUMENISM... (Where do you draw the line?)   Sandy Simpson, "Deception In The Church", 1998 ..----------------------------------------...----------------------------------------.. This is a short essay to illustrate, with some irony, just how unbiblical, subjective and relativistic Ecumenism really is. A few definitions first: ...

A few days ago I had an idea for a cartoon involving a mousetrap so, because we don’t have any mice in our home (to the dismay of our cats), I googled for mousetrap pictures. I saw one that looked like a good representation and clicked on it.  It happened to be on a site that was attempting to defend evolution against Michael Behe’ ...

Harold Camping and Judgment day

Authored by d2000pan on Wed, May 11 2011 - 11:33 AM

I looks like Harold Camping is prediction judgment day May 21, 2011 is approaching.   He has been wrong with his predictions in 1994.  Now he is at it again. I think his is going to be wrong again.  I don't think anyone knows when God will judge this world.  Predicting the rapture will happen is ...

It looks like Calvary Chapel has their own Christian internet Television channel called His Channel. Most of the preaching come from the Calvary Chapels in America. It has preaching from Word of faith teachers too, preachers like Joyce Meyer, and John Hagee. When you watch this channel I notice that they don't do ...

What would we do without worry?

Authored by jeanne53 on Wed, Sep 16 2009 - 04:52 PM

The state of things make me worry. I am worried that our Republic may have some very rough times ahead. I am worried that somebody will do something either stupid or duplicitous and send us into chaos. I am worried that our Congress may allow itself to be made irrelevant by the current administration. I am worried that our Afghanistan battles ...

Not compromising in a compromised world

Authored by kba on Wed, Mar 26 2008 - 01:05 AM

I gotta say...a lot of times it's really tough to see where the compromise is, it can be so subtle. I guess I need to take EVERYTHING captive to the Word of God....duh! ;-) It's just gonna get worse as we live through these last days. Oh Lord, help me to see and honor You no matter what! So may it be done. (thank you Lord) :-} ...

There have been so many bad news stories in the papers lately, but I am particularly saddened by the one about the mom in her sixties, who was the caregiver to her Down Syndrome daughter in her twenties. The mother was dying from cancer, and apparently felt that there was nobody who could or would care for her daughter after her death or when ...

Hello all! I have been away from this blog for a long time. Thanks to all who stopped by to read or just say hello. A lot has happened in the past months, but I remain a strong atheist still. There were a few days in March of this year, when I considered crashing the van into a telephone pole to be a good idea, thus ending my life and my ...

I was watching JCTV today.  They are now broadcasting in Phoenix AZ for people with digital televisions.  This network is for young people.  It is sort of like MTV for Christians. The main thing wrong with this network is the music videos.  Most of them don't mention Jesus Christ.  In stead of talking about Christ, the videos are about lost loves, ...

Veggie Tales on NBC

It looks like Veggie Tales is NBC this Fall.  I wonder how come the Christian Television stations don't air Veggie Tales much.  Maybe Veggie Tales don't have much Christianity in it.  The new Veggie Tales shows will be filtering out Jesus from the each episode.   To me it looks like Veggie Tales has compromise with the world just to get air play ...

It has been throughly explained to me by certain members on Praize that atheists are fools, are utterly without any good in them, and are even incapable of doing good. Atheists always seek to undermine good works and good people. Atheists always work against the christian church and against christians to bring them down in the gutter with all ...
