Randy's Bowl Process |
Soon, in this section I will illustrate the basic procedures for turning bowls. Currently, I don't have photos of all the steps. |

![]() STEP 3 Here the bowl is gripped by the chuck. I am using a 1/2" bowl gouge to cut and shape the center. ![]() |

Here the outside of the bowl is cut to the desired shape. Notice the center has been cut leaving square sides. This is called a spigot or tenon, this allows the bowl to be held by a chuck so the inside of the bowl can be cut away. A face plate which is attached to the wood with screws, then threaded on the lathe can also be used. ![]() |
